To complement the part of the Convention and Exhibition Industry Subsidy Scheme which subsidises 50% of the participation fee of exhibitors of the trade exhibitions organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) (please click here for the details of the Subsidy Scheme), EMF has made “Special Arrangements” for eligible Hong Kong enterprises to apply for funding support of EMF to cover their participation fee on a matching basis when they submit booth applications via the HKTDC Exhibitor Online Platform.

The “Special Arrangements” apply to local trade exhibitions organised by HKTDC.  The relevant applications will cover participation fee and advertisement fee on exhibition catalogue (if applicable) of the exhibition.

Under the “Special Arrangements”, enterprises are only required to upload the following documents to the HKTDC Exhibitor Online Platform to apply for EMF:

• A duly completed application form under the “Special Arrangements”.

• (a) For unlimited company: Certified Extract/Electronic Extract of Information on the Business Register, i.e. Form 1(a) or Form 1(c) of the Business Registration Office, issued within the past 2 years; or
  (b) For limited company: full copy of the most recent Annual Return (i.e. Form NAR1) or Incorporation Form (i.e. NNC1) of the Companies Registry.

HKTDC will provide to the Trade and Industry Department (TID) direct other necessary supporting documents, e.g. a copy of the Business Registration Certificate of the applicant enterprise, supporting documents for the declared expenditure items, exhibitors’ list, photos of the exhibition booth, exhibition catalogue, etc. 
 
Under normal circumstances, TID will notify an applicant enterprise of the result of an application (approved in-principle or not approved) by ordinary post before the commencement of the exhibition.  The final amount of approved funding for the applicant enterprise will be determined after the exhibition and transferred to HKTDC direct.  The amount concerned will be counted into the total approved funding provided for the applicant enterprise to participate in the exhibition and the cumulative funding support provided to the applicant enterprise under EMF.

Enterprises may also apply to TID for funding support of EMF for other eligible expenditure items of the exhibition, i.e. eligible expenditure items not covered by the “Special Arrangements”, within 60 calendar days after the completion date of the exhibition by following the instructions set out in the notification of result of the “Special Arrangements”.

Enterprises opting not to apply for EMF through the “Special Arrangements” may still apply with TID direct for funding support under EMF for the eligible expenditure items of the trade exhibition.  Please refer to “Types of Application” and “Application Procedures” for details.
